2021 Event Photos

The last drive of 2021 included a fall foliage tour, a previously untravelled section of IN 145, and a family-style lunch in The German Restaurant in French Lick. For Porsche drivers and passengers, it was the next best thing to a visit to the old country.

November 13, 2021

We gathered in the parking lot of Newburgh's lock and dam under a cold, grey sky.

At 8:45 the temperature was still below 40 degrees but our spirits were high.

Mark Roethemeier had mapped out a fresh route to French Lick. Dave Hostetter, acting as Safety Chair, reminded everyone of summer tires' shortcomings in cold weather.

Finally, it was DRIVE TIME. Heat on? Check. Seat heaters? Check. Nice leaves? Check.

Bright sun might have made the fall leaves more exciting.

But hey, we were on the road again.

Tell City was close.

We made a brief rest stop and then drove northeast on IN 37.

A short distance out of Tell City, we turned left onto IN 145 and drove past St. Mark's Catholic Church (founded 1863).

145 then took us on a roller coaster ride through Perry County farms.

Eventually, 145 crosses 62 and then I-64 and continues along the familiar stretch to Birdseye.

A right in Birdseye leads to IN 64, where 145 turns left and makes its way to French lick.

We knew how to find The German Restaurant. D-Patrick Porsche hosted a dinner here for Southern Indiana Region members and D-Patrick folks who attended this year's Porsche Parade.

A large, festive space was waiting for us.

Around the room (L-R): Dave Hostetter, Don and Donna Brandenberg, Rich Gustafson and nephew.

Here: Gail Hostetter, Cheryl Roethemeier, Randy Lientz and Mark Roethemeier.

At this table: new mambers Matt Minniear and Amber Henderson with Phil and Dawn Green.

Here: Joe and Jean Wolf, Susan Jindrich, and new members Chris and Danny Woehler. Jerry Jindrich was taking pictures.

Dean Becher gave a thumbs up to Scott Klueh's "boot" of beer. Manuel and Dee Dee Ramirez smiled for the camera.

Here: Dale Fatland with Jacque and Dean Becher.

Across the table, Stanley and Karen Shields and Allan Fierst and Denise Pace struck cheerful poses.

At the last table Mike Mammoser and his boys visit with new members Nick Kempf and Vicky Schneider.

This last drive of 2021 gave us colorful leaves, a playful stretch of Highway 145 we had not driven before, old faces and new faces, and an authentic German meal. Like several other new club experiences this year, this would be a good one to repeat!
